Alloy 2000 (UNS N06200) is a low-carbon nickel-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy supplied as butt weld fittings to ASME SB-366 and B16.9, and as plate and sheet to SB-622 and SB-626. Its copper content gives it distinctive resistance to reducing acids such as sulphuric and hydrochloric acid.
Alloy 2000, commercially known as Alloy C-2000, is a low-carbon nickel-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy built for the most aggressive reducing environments in chemical processing. Unlike the classic nickel-molybdenum alloys, it deliberately contains both chromium and copper: chromium buys resistance to oxidising contaminants that sneak into reducing process streams, and copper buys resistance to sulphuric and hydrochloric acid that nickel-molybdenum grades alone cannot handle.
| Product Form | ASME Specification | UNS Designation |
|---|---|---|
| Wrought butt weld fittings | SB-366 (ASME B16.9 dimensions) | N06200 |
| Plate, sheet and strip | SB-622 | N06200 |
| Welded tube | SB-626 | N06200 |
| Forged flanges | SB-462 | N06200 |
| Bar and forging stock | SB-564 | N06200 |
ASME SB-366 Table 2 lists N06200 under the WP product designation WPHC2000, so all fittings we supply in this grade are produced to the WP (wrought) route. The CR (corrosion-resistant, MSS SP-43) designation is also available in SB-366 but is less commonly ordered than WP.
| Grade | UNS | Cu | Cr | Mo | Strengths In |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alloy C-276 | N10276 | — | — | 15.0–17.0 | Mixed oxidising and reducing acids |
| Alloy 2000 | N06200 | 1.5–2.5 | 20.0–22.0 | 15.5–17.0 | Reducing acids with oxidiser contamination |
| Alloy 625 | N06625 | — | 21.0–23.0 | 8.5–9.5 | Sour service, seawater, clad overlay |
| Alloy 59 | N06059 | — | 22.0–24.0 | 16.0–17.5 | Highest acid resistance, lower availability |
Choose Alloy 2000 over C-276 when the process is predominantly reducing but you cannot guarantee the absence of oxidising species such as dissolved oxygen, ferric ions or hypochlorite. The chromium content covers that contingency without sacrificing the molybdenum base resistance.
| Element | Composition Limit, % |

| Carbon | 0.010 max |
| Silicon | 0.05 max |
| Nitrogen | 0.05 max |

ASME SB-366 Table 3 specifies the following solution treatment for this grade:
| Alloy Designation | UNS | Solution Treatment °F [°C] | Quench |
|---|---|---|---|
| WPHC2000 | N06200 | 2075–2125 [1135–1163] | Rapid Air/Water |
| Parameter | Standard | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Fitting dimensions | ASME B16.9 | NPS 1/2 in. to NPS 24 in. (confirm above NPS 12 in.) |
| Wall thickness | ASME B16.9 | Schedules 5S to 160, or customer-specified |
| End preparation | ASME B16.25 | Plain, bevelled or customer drawing |
| Pressure class | ASME B16.5 rating basis | Class 150 to Class 2500 (fitting geometry per B16.9) |
| Heat treatment | ASME SB-366 Table 3 | Solution annealed and rapid quenched |
For welding procedure qualification, the deposited weld metal must conform to the base metal composition or to an AWS A5.11 / A5.14 filler of equivalent composition, per ASME SB-366 §6.4.
