Inconel 718 (UNS N07718) is a precipitation-hardening nickel-chromium-iron alloy with niobium and titanium additions, supplied in solution-treated plus aged condition to reach tensile strength above 180 ksi. It is the standard answer when a buyer needs aerospace-level strength together with resistance to oxidation, chloride pitting and sour service. Tailan Metal supplies it as butt weld fittings to ASME B16.9 and socket weld fittings to ASME B16.11, machined from SB-637 forging stock.

The elongation and reduction-of-area values above carry footnote E: they apply to tension specimens machined tangentially from near the centre of large disk forgings over 50 sq.in. (3225.8 sq.mm) in cross-section, or radially from rings 3 in. (76.2 mm) or more in thickness. Other product forms carry different minimums – confirm against the SB-637 table applicable to your section size at order placement.

Applications

Aerospace and gas-turbine components, API 6A718 and API 6ACRA wellhead and Christmas-tree equipment, high-pressure sour gas service, rocket and missile hardware, and injection-mould tooling requiring uniform hardness with corrosion resistance.

Certification and inspection

EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification, hardness and tensile testing on the aged condition, PMI, ultrasonic examination, and full heat-treatment certification. AMS 5663 material conformance available on request. Independent third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TUV, Lloyd’s) accepted at mill.

Ordering information

Specify grade, product form (bar, forging or machined fitting), size, quantity, and whether the aged condition with hardness reporting is required. Provide drawings for non-standard parts. We will confirm availability of the required section size and heat-treatment state with a quotation.
